Rosie O’Donnell is encountering a financial setback with her penthouse in New York City.

Last spring, Rosie O’Donnell put her New York City penthouse up for sale for $8.3 million, announcing her move to the West Coast and residence in a rented beachfront home in Malibu with her youngest daughter Dakota. After being taken off the market in December, the comedian and talk show host’s luxurious duplex in Midtown Manhattan’s Turtle Bay neighborhood is once again available for sale, this time at a discounted price of $7.5 million. The listing is managed by Caroline Bass of The Corcoran Group.

O’Donnell purchased the duplex for $8 million in 2017 after it underwent extensive renovations by its previous owners. Situated on the top two floors of the 33-story Sterling Plaza tower, the 172-unit development built in the mid-1980s, the penthouse features four bedrooms and three baths spread across approximately 3,600 square feet of living space on two levels. It boasts Russian wide-plank oak floors, decorative millwork, designer lighting, a staircase inspired by the Guggenheim, and Savant and Nest home-automation systems. Additionally, a spacious roof terrace offers ample space for outdoor relaxation and entertaining, with panoramic views of the East River, the Chrysler Building, and the Empire State Building.

Highlights of the penthouse include a small entryway leading into a window-lined great room featuring a living area focused around a large honed black granite wood-burning fireplace and a dining room equipped with a wet bar and a built-in window seat. The kitchen, designed by Boffi, showcases Corian countertops, an eat-in island, and high-end Gaggeanu and Miele appliances.

Additionally, the penthouse boasts a Swedish sauna, a secluded primary bedroom with six custom-designed closets, an extra walk-in closet, and a luxurious marble bathroom complete with heated floors, dual vanities, a freestanding soaking tub, and a glass-encased steam shower. However, the property comes with a substantial monthly maintenance fee of $5,119, which grants owners access to a 24-hour doorman and concierge service.

Rosie O’Donnell, aged 62, began her career as a stand-up comic in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She later hosted her own talk show from 1996 to 2002 and then became a co-host on The View. The actress, originally from Long Island, recently starred in Showtime’s American Gigolo reboot. In late 2021, she purchased a modern farmhouse-style mansion in the Beverlywood area of Los Angeles for $4.6 million, only to sell it just four months later for a profit of $300,000.
