John Mack’s Former Morgan Stanley CEO Villa in the British Virgin Islands Is Back on the Market for $24 Million

A meticulously renovated beachfront estate once owned by former Morgan Stanley chairman and CEO John Mack is back on the market in Virgin Gorda, with a significantly reduced asking price and a new identity.

For more than a decade, the British Virgin Islands have served as a private retreat for some of the world’s most prominent business figures, and few properties illustrate that appeal quite like Ohm at Oil Nut Bay. The six-bedroom beachfront villa, formerly associated with Wall Street executive John Mack and his wife, Christy, is now asking $24 million.

The property spans 5,981 square feet on approximately 0.56 acres and comes with 100 feet of beachfront, two primary suites, a heated infinity pool, a hot tub, two kitchens, a media and game room, and a 30-foot private boat slip at Oil Nut Bay’s marina. It is being offered fully furnished.

For CaliforniaLuxuryHouses readers accustomed to trophy homes in Malibu, Beverly Hills, Newport Beach, or Palm Springs, the appeal here is somewhat different. Ohm is not about proximity to a major city or a long list of urban conveniences. Instead, its value is tied to privacy, direct access to the Caribbean, limited beachfront inventory and the rare combination of resort services with a genuinely secluded setting.

A Wall Street Executive’s Long Caribbean Connection

John Mack is best known for his leadership at Morgan Stanley, where he became chairman and chief executive officer in June 2005. He remained CEO through December 2009 and continued as chairman until 2011. Morgan Stanley itself credited Mack with helping guide the firm through the extraordinary financial crisis of 2008.

His connection to Oil Nut Bay, however, began years before the villa became the finished retreat now known as Ohm.

In 2011, Mack and Christy were vacationing in the British Virgin Islands when their yacht captain suggested that they visit land being developed into what would become Oil Nut Bay. According to Christy Mack’s account reported by Bloomberg, the couple visited the site, met developer David V. Johnson and eventually acquired an undeveloped parcel in the emerging community.

The property’s history took an unexpected turn several years later. Rather than building on the original homesite, the Macks traded the undeveloped parcel toward a completed spec house on the beach in 2015. They then embarked on a substantial redesign and renovation, transforming the existing structure into a highly customized family retreat.

Listing agent Roz Colthart, then real estate director at Corcoran BVI, described the decision simply in an earlier interview with Mansion Global: “They decided to refurbish it completely.”

The renovation reportedly took four years and was completed in 2019. That distinction is important when discussing the property’s age: public sources identify 2015 as the year the Macks acquired the beachfront spec house and 2019 as the completion date of the major renovation, but do not establish a definitive original construction year for the structure itself.

From Nonamé to Ohm

The villa’s market history is almost as interesting as its ownership history.

In September 2024, the Mack property was publicly marketed as Nonamé for $29.5 million. At the time, the listing emphasized the home’s six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and one half bathroom, its 100 feet of beach frontage, private boat slip and proximity to Oil Nut Bay’s Beach Club.

The asking price has since moved lower. The property is now being marketed as Ohm for $24 million, representing a $5.5 million reduction from the 2024 asking price, or roughly 18.6%.

The current Oil Nut Bay listing describes Ohm as a turnkey beachfront villa designed around a private courtyard, with the principal living and dining pavilion opening toward the ocean. Wood-look porcelain flooring, linen wall coverings and custom furnishings give the interiors a warm, restrained character intended to complement rather than compete with the surrounding landscape.

The change in name also gives the residence a subtly different identity. Current marketing presents Ohm as a sensory retreat centered on restoration and connection with its surroundings, rather than simply another large Caribbean vacation home.

A Beachfront Residence Designed Around the Sea

The most compelling feature of Ohm may be its relationship with the shoreline.

The villa sits directly on the beach, with approximately 100 feet of frontage and immediate access to the water. The outdoor living area is arranged around a heated infinity-edge pool, whose waterfall feature creates a visual and acoustic connection between the terrace and the sea.

A hot tub, shaded lounge areas, outdoor dining spaces and a broad lawn extend the living environment toward the sand. Five of the six bedroom suites have outdoor showers, reinforcing the property’s indoor-outdoor approach.

There are also two primary suites with ocean views, while every bedroom is en suite and equipped with double vanities and walk-in closets. The arrangement makes the residence particularly suited to multigenerational stays, an important consideration for a property positioned inside a family-oriented resort community.

Colthart highlighted that quality of beachfront access when the property was previously listed, telling Mansion Global, “People love being on the beach.” She noted that the beach stretches for roughly a mile and allows residents to walk directly into the water.

At the center of the home is an open-plan living, dining and family kitchen area beneath a cathedral ceiling. The space connects directly to the pool terrace, allowing the ocean view to become part of the architecture rather than simply a backdrop beyond the windows.

A separate chef’s kitchen adds another layer of functionality. For a home intended for extended family stays or private entertaining, the separation between everyday cooking and professional-level food preparation is a practical luxury rather than merely a decorative feature.

The residence also includes a media and game room, a private courtyard, a full laundry area, storage and a staff or guest suite. The current offering includes the furnishings, making the estate effectively turnkey for a buyer seeking an immediate Caribbean retreat.

The Resort Amenities Extend Beyond the Property Line

One of Ohm’s strongest selling points is that its private beachfront setting does not require owners to sacrifice access to resort infrastructure.

Oil Nut Bay occupies approximately 400 acres on the northeastern end of Virgin Gorda. The development was acquired in 2008, with the first two years dedicated to infrastructure before vertical construction began in 2010. Today, the community combines private residences with a collection of hospitality and recreational amenities.

The Beach Club functions as the social center, with three pools, lounging areas, dining and a swim-up bar. Residents and guests can also access tennis and pickleball courts, wellness facilities, a spa, children’s programming and a variety of watersports.

“It’s very multi-generational, and this house fits right in with that,” Colthart said when describing the property to Mansion Global.

For dining, Marina Village provides one of the community’s key gathering points. The over-water Nova restaurant serves globally inspired cuisine and cocktails, while the Marina Village also has a market and coffee shop for pastries, gourmet provisions and grab-and-go food. Luna Boutique adds a small-scale shopping component, while Deep Bay Watersports provides access to kayaking, paddleboarding and other activities.

Colthart previously described the villa as being “right next to the Beach Club and the public amenities,” pointing to the convenience of having pools, dining and recreational facilities close to the home.

That proximity is particularly valuable because Oil Nut Bay’s isolation is deliberate. The community is accessible only by boat or helicopter, preserving the privacy that attracts buyers to the destination in the first place. Owners can fly into either Tortola or Virgin Gorda and then transfer by private boat or helicopter. The resort also maintains two helipads and offers customs and immigration clearance on site.

A Private Marina Becomes Part of the Real Estate Equation

For a Caribbean trophy property, the boat slip may be almost as important as the house.

Ohm includes a 30-foot private slip at Pier One in the Oil Nut Bay Marina. The marina is designed to support owners arriving by yacht as well as residents exploring the surrounding islands by water.

The broader marina has been planned around multiple piers, with services including electricity, water, fuel and concierge support. Regular ferry connections also link Oil Nut Bay with Gun Creek, providing another way to move between the resort and Virgin Gorda.

The villa also comes with two electric island carts, giving owners a convenient way to move around the community without relying on conventional automobiles. Solar panels and an ownership interest in the community’s solar farm add an environmental component to the estate’s otherwise intensely luxurious profile.

A Rare Address in a Discreet Caribbean Enclave

The broader appeal of Oil Nut Bay comes down to scarcity.

The community occupies a remote position at the northeastern end of Virgin Gorda, where Caribbean and Atlantic waters meet. Its limited access, low-density planning and private amenities have helped establish it as one of the British Virgin Islands’ most exclusive residential enclaves.

The Macks were among the property’s early high-profile owners, while the surrounding region has attracted other prominent figures from business and entertainment. Across the bay, Richard Branson’s Necker Island provides another reminder of the rarefied company associated with this part of the British Virgin Islands.

For a buyer, however, the appeal of Ohm is less about celebrity provenance than what the property offers today: a fully renovated beachfront residence, direct ocean access, private marina rights, resort services and a level of privacy that is increasingly difficult to replicate.

As Colthart previously put it, the British Virgin Islands can feel like “the best neighborhood in the world that you’ve never heard of.”

That description may be particularly relevant to Ohm’s current moment. After entering the market at $29.5 million in 2024, the estate is now being offered at $24 million, putting a former Morgan Stanley CEO’s meticulously rebuilt Caribbean escape back into contention for buyers searching at the upper end of the island market.

CaliforniaLuxuryHouses sees properties such as Ohm as an interesting reminder that the modern luxury-home market increasingly extends beyond traditional metropolitan addresses. For the right buyer, the ultimate trophy residence may not be in Los Angeles, Miami or Manhattan, but on a quiet stretch of sand where the house, the sea and the surrounding landscape effectively become one private estate.

Property Details

Ohm is currently offered at $24 million and encompasses approximately 5,981 square feet on a 0.56-acre beachfront parcel. The residence contains six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, along with two primary suites, a family kitchen, a separate chef’s kitchen, media and game room, heated infinity pool, hot tub, outdoor showers, private courtyard and extensive outdoor entertaining areas.

The sale also includes a 30-foot private boat slip at Pier One, two electric island carts, solar panels and the villa’s custom furnishings. The property is currently marketed as a fully furnished, turnkey residence.

The property’s documented history stretches back to 2011, when John and Christy Mack first encountered the future Oil Nut Bay development. They acquired an undeveloped homesite before trading into a beachfront spec house in 2015. The resulting renovation was completed in 2019, turning that original structure into the highly customized retreat that was later marketed as Nonamé and is now offered as Ohm.

The current co-listing team includes Mike Fabbri and Mauricio Umansky of The Agency alongside the local team at Corcoran BVI.

For prospective buyers, the central proposition is straightforward: Ohm offers one of the rarest combinations in Caribbean real estate—a true beachfront home, private boating access, extensive resort amenities and the provenance of having once been the personal retreat of one of Wall Street’s best-known executives.
