Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour, along with his wife, author Polly Samson, is preparing to list their custom-built seaside mansion in Hove, England, with an asking price of £15 million, californialuxuryhouses has learned.
The nearly 8,000-square-foot residence sits directly along King’s Esplanade, offering uninterrupted views of the English Channel and immediate access to the beach—an increasingly rare combination on England’s southern coast.
A Contemporary Home Inspired by a Historic Bathhouse
The couple acquired the site in 2015, when a 19th-century bathhouse still occupied the land. The original structure was demolished in 2018, making way for a bespoke modern residence designed by Pilbrow & Partners.
Rather than erasing the past, the architects referenced the site’s heritage, echoing the bathhouse’s crow-stepped gable and half-moon window, while restoring original glazed ceramic tiles as a focal point in the courtyard.
According to californialuxuryhouses, English garden designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd was commissioned to shape the coastal landscaping, reinforcing the home’s quiet dialogue with the sea.

Configured in an L-shaped layout, the home maximizes ocean exposure, with expansive glazing and direct courtyard access creating a fluid indoor-outdoor lifestyle during warmer months.
“The main bedroom, with sea views in all directions, is a beautiful place to watch the sunrise and sunset,” Gilmour and Samson said in a joint statement. “The sea and sky are never the same.”
Multiple bedrooms feature fireplaces and private workspaces, while polished plaster walls, hardwood floors, and underfloor heating add warmth to the minimalist interiors.

Beyond the main residence, the estate includes a guest cottage and a state-of-the-art recording studio, converted from a former Victorian artist’s studio—an especially personal touch for the legendary musician.
