Former Formula 1 champion Jenson Button and his wife, interior designer Brittny Button, have unveiled their extensively renovated Mediterranean-style home in California. Brittny, who runs Button Atelier in Los Angeles, transformed the house with a postmodern 1980s aesthetic infused with Spanish architectural elements.

“When we bought it in 2021, it had a ‘Grey Gardens’ look,” Brittny said, referencing the neglected state of the property. She embraced natural and reclaimed materials to revitalize the home, including salvaged gates from the 1925 Enchanted Hill estate.

The couple purchased the property for $3.7 million and spent a year and a half on renovations. Features of the two-level house, built in 1984, include 9-foot ceilings, a den/office, great room, guest room, maid’s quarters, gym, and a primary suite with a spa-like bathroom. The estate also boasts a four-car garage, parking for 10 vehicles, outdoor fire features, an in-ground pool, and a heated spa.

Listing agent Jaime Krupnick of Engel & Völkers Westlake Village praised the home’s meticulous craftsmanship, noting its suitability for seamless indoor-outdoor living and entertaining. “The outdoor pool is spectacular. It looks like it’s on a resort,” Krupnick said.

This is the third property the Buttons have renovated and listed, following another Spanish-style residence in Palm Springs. The Buttons, who have two young children, are relocating to an 11-acre estate nearby.

The transformation underscores Brittny’s passion for Spanish architecture and her knack for blending historical elements with modern design. “Mother Nature is the greatest interior and exterior decorator,” she said, highlighting her approach to integrating natural materials into the home’s aesthetic.

The estate, with its postmodern flair and Spanish twist, now stands as a testament to the Buttons’ vision and dedication to preserving and enhancing architectural beauty.
