Television icon Ellen DeGeneres has once again demonstrated her well-known flair for luxury real estate deals. The comedian and talk show host, along with her wife Portia de Rossi, has sold a Montecito, California residence for $13.5 million, only months after acquiring the property.
The sale marks yet another swift transaction in what has become a prolific pattern of buying and selling high-end homes along Southern California’s most coveted coastline.

A Short-Term Investment With a Quick Return
Property records show that DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the home in September for $12 million, listing it just four months later in January at $13.9 million. The deal closed on March 11, though details of the transaction were made public more recently.
The buyer was Soren Urry, president of Utah-based Synergy Development, who acquired the property through a California-registered limited liability company.

Modern Mediterranean Design With Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
Completed in 2018, the residence spans approximately 4,780 square feet and offers a contemporary interpretation of Mediterranean architecture. Clean lines, black steel-framed doors and windows, and an emphasis on natural light define the home’s aesthetic.

One of the property’s standout features is its open floor plan, where floor-to-ceiling pocket doors dissolve the boundary between interior spaces and the private garden beyond. Water features, lush landscaping, and multiple outdoor seating areas reinforce Montecito’s relaxed, resort-like lifestyle.

Refined Interiors and Wellness-Focused Amenities
The home includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms, arranged across two private wings flanking the main living space. At the heart of the residence is a stylish eat-in kitchen, outfitted with mirrored cabinetry that reflects light and greenery from outdoors.

The primary suite is designed as a serene retreat, complete with dual closets, a marble-clad bathroom, and a rare outdoor shower—a feature well suited to Montecito’s coastal climate.
Additional amenities include wine storage, a massage treatment room, a billiards area, and several spaces for outdoor dining and lounging. A detached studio offers flexibility as a gym, office, or guest house.

A Familiar Market for a Prolific Property Duo
DeGeneres and de Rossi are no strangers to the Montecito real estate scene. Earlier this year, the couple acquired a nearly 12,000-square-foot estate for $20.95 million, and in late 2020, they purchased comedian Dennis Miller’s four-acre property for $49 million.
That same year, they also sold their Bali-inspired Montecito estate for over $33 million, further cementing their reputation as savvy players in California’s ultra-luxury housing market.
