LeBron James’s former Miami mansion has found a buyer at a price of $18.5 million

The former Miami mansion of basketball legend LeBron James, still boasting the custom-branded wallpaper he commissioned, recently sold for $18.5 million. Situated in the stylish Coconut Grove neighborhood, the nearly half-acre property changed ownership earlier this month. Entrepreneur John Lie-Nielsen and his wife, Darling Lie-Nielsen, are the recorded buyers, as per property records.

The property has 80 feet of open waterfront.

Listing agent Jason Zarco of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty noted that the property spent less than a month on the market. Zarco attributed the swift sale to the scarcity of comparable properties in Miami’s open bay area for under $20 million. He emphasized the mansion’s pristine condition, breathtaking views, and exceptional entertainment spaces, all contributing to its desirability at this price point.

The dining room has a visual connection to the living room. A coved ceiling adds height.

Stretching 80 feet along Biscayne Bay, the estate features a private gate and a coral-wrapped wall for exclusivity. In addition to the main residence, there’s a guest house situated above the three-car garage. The property also boasts a private dock, a heated pool with a swim-up bar, a gym, a spa with steam and sauna facilities, and a ground-floor entertainment lounge complete with billiards and poker tables.

The theater is appointed with leather lounges and a popcorn machine.

The main house spans 13,930 square feet, constructed in 2010, and showcases floor-to-ceiling windows in its primary living areas. It comprises six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, one half bath, an elevator, a wine cellar, a theater, a living room with a bar, and an office/library. Additionally, the primary suite, boasting a rooftop terrace, features two bathrooms and walk-in closets.

The primary suite has a mirrored ceiling, a terrace and two bathrooms.

According to Zarco, the property’s most distinctive feature is the wallpaper adorned in the guest house, which displays golden crowns and the NBA star’s initials, LJ.

John Lie-Nielsen, the founder and CEO of Coconut Grove-based One Park Financial, a company offering working capital solutions to small- and mid-sized businesses, is the new owner. The Lie-Nielsens have yet to respond to an email seeking comment.

The living room is made for entertaining: It has a bar, a fireplace and astounding water views.

James acquired the property for $9 million in 2010 during his tenure with the Miami Heat. He later sold it in 2015 for $13.4 million upon his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team where he began his NBA journey, as reported. In 2021, property records indicate that Jeff Conry, the former CEO of iAero Airways, along with his wife, Sherianne Conry, purchased it for $12.75 million.

It’s hard to tell where the backyard ends and the bay begins.

The sale was initially reported by The Real Deal. LeBron James, aged 38, holds the title of the NBA’s oldest player and its top scorer, currently in his sixth season with the Los Angeles Lakers. With four NBA championships to his name—two with the Miami Heat, one with the Lakers, and one with the Cavaliers—James has participated in 10 NBA Finals. He boasts four Most Valuable Player Awards, two Olympic gold medals, and has been selected as an All-Star a remarkable 19 times.
