Chuck Lorre, the legendary TV producer behind global hits such as The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, has purchased a newly renovated Hollywood Regency estate in Bel Air for $27.5 million. The property, initially listed for $31.5 million, sold at a discount after just five months on the market.

A Historic John Elgin Woolf Design Reimagined
Originally designed in the late 1940s by modernist architect John “Jack” Elgin Woolf, this Bel Air residence carries a significant architectural pedigree. Woolf, celebrated for his Hollywood Regency style, lived in the home twice during his lifetime.

Four years ago, architect Mark Rios and physician Guy Ringler acquired the property for $17.5 million. They transformed it into a striking showcase of design, blending Woolf’s Regency elegance with bold, modern updates. The comprehensive renovation was later featured in Architectural Digest.

A Bold and Eclectic Interior
Set on nearly one-third of an acre behind private gates and tall hedges, the terracotta-roofed estate spans 8,400 square feet with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. A gravel motor court leads to the striking Pullman entry doors and a glass-encased foyer overlooking a central courtyard.

Inside, the interiors are filled with vibrant character and craftsmanship. The fireside living room includes a lacquered fiberglass cocktail bar, while the crimson-hued library features a carved marble fireplace and custom shelving. A dramatic dining room in dark green is topped with an antique mirrored ceiling and skylight, leading into an ebony-toned kitchen with Bulthaup cabinetry, a Lacanche range, and an additional prep kitchen with a breakfast area.

Resort-Style Comforts and Private Retreats
Upstairs, the primary suite offers a private balcony, dual walk-in closets, and two luxurious bathrooms. Additional features include a Moroccan-inspired lounge, a home office, a wine cellar, a gym, and spaces designed for both relaxation and entertaining.
The landscaped grounds complete the resort-like feel, with a koi pond, gazebo, and stone pathways that connect to a sunken fire-pit lounge surrounded by greenery.

The King of Sitcoms Expands His Portfolio
Known as the King of Sitcoms, Lorre has produced some of the most successful shows in television history, including Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, Mom, and The Big Bang Theory. His latest Bel Air acquisition joins a growing portfolio of luxury homes.

He still owns a longtime residence in Pacific Palisades, purchased in the mid-1990s for $2.6 million, as well as an oceanfront property in Malibu that he acquired nearly 15 years ago from actor Tony Danza.

With its rich history, modern transformation, and prime Bel Air address, this $27.5 million estate is a remarkable addition to both the Los Angeles luxury real estate market and Chuck Lorre’s personal collection of properties.
