The Sherle Wagner company, initially based in Manhattan, expanded internationally and was eventually acquired by the $2 billion home products giant Masco in 1989 for an undisclosed amount. Around the same time, the Wagners purchased a 1.4-acre plot in South Florida for $300,000 and built a custom contemporary home. Sherle Wagner continued to be active in his business until his death in March 1997 at age 79. His wife, who lived to be 104 years old, passed away in July 2023.
