Veteran finance and technology executive Steffan Tomlinson has recently acquired a midcentury-modern residence perched in the steep hills overlooking L.A.’s vibrant Sunset Strip. Originally listed for $4.6 million last spring, the property underwent three price reductions before being sold to the current CFO of Stripe for just over $4 million.

According to property records, the seller was Katie Goldsmith, daughter of retired City National Bank CEO Russell Goldsmith and TV producer Karen Mack, who purchased the home nearly six years ago in the summer of 2018. This dwelling, once occupied by the late actor Richard Eastham, offers a secluded retreat behind a privacy wall and tall hedges on a tranquil dead-end street. Tomlinson’s new post-and-beam abode, built in 1956 and meticulously upgraded over the years, sits on less than a quarter-acre of land, boasting stunning ocean and city views.

The single-level residence spans over 2,600 square feet of living space, featuring three bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms. Dark hardwood floors complement the expansive glass windows throughout, providing a treehouse-like ambiance. Notable features include a spacious living room with a high wood-paneled ceiling, a marble-clad linear fireplace, and walls of glass framing the captivating views. The dining area seamlessly connects to a galley-style kitchen equipped with sleek cabinetry, premium appliances, and a wine refrigerator.

The property includes secluded sleeping wings, each with its own bath, and a primary suite boasting a floating-hearth fireplace, a walk-in closet, and a spa-inspired bath with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a large shower. Outdoors, the leafy grounds offer an expansive glass-enclosed deck with a fire pit, along with an attached two-car garage.

Tomlinson, who has previously worked at Palo Alto Networks, Google Cloud, and Confluent, continues to maintain a 1950s home in Atherton, which he purchased for $12 million in 2017. The listing was represented by Zach Goldsmith of The Agency, with Tori Horowitz of Compass representing the buyer.
