Sylvester Stallone has become the talk of Palm Beach after a clash with his neighbors over plans to install a sea barrier around his estate. The 78-year-old actor, who traded Hollywood for South Florida nearly five years ago, purchased a $35 million mansion with a private dock along the Intracoastal Waterway. Recently, Stallone stirred controversy when it was revealed that he sought to build a sea barrier around his luxurious property to prevent seaweed and debris from washing up on the private beach behind his home, as reported by Bloomberg.
“It’s unimaginable to me that you can have your home, your sanctuary, your boat—and yet have someone sit there for months doing their laundry in front of you with no recourse,” he lamented before the Palm Beach Town Council. Additionally, Stallone expressed concerns about protecting his property from trash often dumped into the water. He even brought the issue to former President Donald Trump, whose Mar-a-Lago estate is located just a few miles down the road.
Stallone ponied up $35 million for the waterfront estate that includes a private stretch of sugary sand.
The proposed plan would involve leasing a section of underwater land from the state to build a barrier that would rise 18 inches above the water. However, during the proceedings, Stallone’s lawyer announced that the proposal was officially withdrawn following objections from both the council and local residents about the potential encroachment on public waterways. “It’s tough being so famous, and while we have many celebrities here, you’re the only Rocky and Rambo, so it’s a difficult situation. We simply must object to this proposal,” said Bobbie Lindsay, the council president.
Stallone purchased the 13,000-square-foot lakefront compound in December 2020. The expansive estate boasts seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a gym, a library, a swimming pool, and a family room with a wet bar, according to Realtor.com.
Earlier this year, the Italian Stallion announced his permanent move to Florida, officially leaving California behind. He had already sold his Hidden Hills home in Los Angeles to musician John Fogerty in October 2023 for $17 million. The property, which Fogerty flipped six months later with a $4.3 million price increase, had previously been owned by Stallone for many years. The previous year, he sold his Beverly Park mansion for $58 million to singer Adele, who has since demolished much of the property to build a new custom home. In a further testament to his continued real estate investments, Stallone recently purchased a $25 million home in East Hampton for his three daughters, paying in cash.
