More than five years after Serena Williams finally managed to sell her longtime home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles for nearly $4 million less than the original $12 million asking price, the retired tennis superstar’s former estate has been listed for sale again, this time with a $13.5 million price tag. The listing is being handled by Louis DeLaura and Ernie Stone of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Records show the property in the Stone Canyon neighborhood was owned by the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion for 13 years, from 2006 to spring 2019, when it was sold for $8.1 million. It was then purchased by L.A.-based interior designer Rodrigo Vargas and his partner Frederick Storey for just under $8 million in late 2020.

Originally built in the 1930s but remodeled and expanded since then, the Colonial Mediterranean-style home is tucked away on a fenced and gated double lot spanning nearly 3 acres, just minutes from the Hotel Bel-Air. The 6,100-square-foot, two-level home features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and is adorned with walls of glass that open to the grounds, which are lush with mature trees and water features.

Highlights of the home include a semi-circular living room with marble floors and built-in bookshelves, a wood-paneled study with a bar, a formal dining room with a chandelier, and an all-white kitchen with limestone countertops and high-end appliances. Upstairs, the elegant primary suite has a Juliet balcony, a walk-in closet, and a luxurious bathroom with dual vanities, a claw-foot tub, and a steam shower. While there is no tennis court, the private backyard boasts a pool, spa, flagstone terrace, and an open-air cabana with a fireplace.

Since selling this property, Williams has gone on to purchase a $6.7 million home in a gated Beverly Hills neighborhood and a 7,000-square-foot waterfront home in Jupiter, Florida that was featured in Architectural Digest in 2021.
