The luxurious London mansion, which was rented by billionaire businesswoman and pop star Rihanna for £18,000 (US$21,895) per month during her time in the British capital, has recently been sold for £27.5 million. The A-lister resided in the property for approximately two-and-a-half years, during which time the modern interiors of the more than 6,300-square-foot home were frequently showcased on her social media platforms. She vacated the residence in 2020, as reported by Mansion Global.
A terrace can be found in the garden.
Completely renovated and updated, this eight-bedroom residence is located in St. John’s Wood, an elegant and affluent neighborhood situated north of Regent’s Park, renowned for its abundance of townhouses and grand estates. According to Stephen Lindsay, the head of the North London and St John’s Wood office at Savills, who listed the property alongside Aston Chase, it is also “the sole remaining original villa by Royal architect John Shaw on St. John’s Wood Park, still standing in the 21st century.”
The residence boasts numerous reception and family rooms, as well as formal and informal dining areas, a study, a family kitchen, and a gym. Outdoor amenities include a terrace and a sizable backyard.
The house has eight bedrooms.
Additionally, the property comes with approved planning permission for expansion, allowing the interior space to be nearly tripled to 16,000 square feet. This expansion would accommodate a basement featuring a pool and spa, as stated in the listing.
Rihanna, known for hits like “We Found Love,” is not the only notable individual to have resided in the mansion. Originally owned by diamond tycoon Daniel Francis, a shareholder at De Beers in the mid-1800s, the five-story mansion has housed other prominent figures as well.
According to the brokerages, the property was acquired by a family from abroad. The sellers could not be identified by Mansion Global.
Rihanna lived there for two-and-a-half years.
Mark Pollack, co-founding director of Aston Chase, remarked that Friday’s sale set a new record price for the St. John’s Wood area at £3,500 per square foot. He attributed this achievement to the substantial planning consent secured, the generous plot size, and the secure carriage drive, features typically found in residences located further out in London’s suburbs.
There’s a contemporary kitchen.
Efforts to reach a spokesperson for Rihanna for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The house has formal and casual dining rooms.
