Muhammad Ali’s former Italian Renaissance manor in Los Angeles is slated for auction, with bidding opening this Friday. The over a century-old residence, located in Hancock Park, was purchased by the boxing icon in 1979. Concierge Auctions, in collaboration with Stefani Stolper, Kristen Lawson of The Beverly Hills Estates, and June Ahn of Coldwell Banker Realty, is facilitating the online sale of this historic mansion. Bidding will conclude on May 15th.

The house spans 10,500 square feet.

Designed by architect John C. Austin, known for iconic local landmarks like L.A. City Hall and the Griffith Observatory, the grand estate was Ali’s residence until 1984, according to property records. Throughout his ownership, he entertained notable figures such as Sylvester Stallone, Clint Eastwood, and Michael Jackson, as stated by the auction house.

The house is more than 100 years old, and was designed by John C. Austin, who also built the Griffith Observatory.

The manor has housed other notable figures besides Ali. Previous occupants include A.P. Giannini, the founder of Bank of America, and King C. Gillette, the founder of The Gillette Company, as reported by Concierge.

The park-like grounds extend to 1.6 acres.

According to PropertyShark records, the current owners, who could not be reached for comment, purchased the property for $2.5 million in 2001.

Stolper stated in a news release, “Even without its illustrious legacy as a home to business titans, statesmen, and sporting icons, [the house] would stand out for its exquisite design and amenities. This is a rare opportunity to own old-Hollywood glamour in the heart of one of Los Angeles’s most prized communities.”

There is a full bar.

Built in the 1920s, the upscale Hancock Park neighborhood boasts numerous meticulously maintained historic residences, much like this one currently listed for $13.5 million.

There are stained-glass windows.

This sprawling 10,500-square-foot estate is nestled on 1.6 acres of picturesque grounds reminiscent of a park, located within the exclusive gated enclave of Fremont Place, which consists of only 70 residences.

The lush grounds are home to a pool.

According to the press release, the seven-bedroom residence exudes grandeur and exudes old-world charm, evident from its European-inspired façade, Tiffany stained-glass windows, hand-carved crown moldings, and imported Italian marble floors.

It has a chef’s kitchen.

The house features a majestic foyer, a spacious salon, a circular-shaped conservatory, a chef’s kitchen, and a formal dining room.

The room still has the same panelling.

An impressive staircase leads to the upper floor, where, in addition to the bedrooms, there are two offices, a full-sized bar, and a grand ballroom.

Muhammad Ali was pictured at the home in 1980, before his last fight with Larry Holmes.

Outside, the property boasts a pool, manicured gardens, pergola-lined pathways, and a separate 1,000-square-foot, one-bedroom guest house.
