In early 2017, Mandy Moore and her then-fiancé Taylor Goldsmith found their ideal family home in Pasadena, a midcentury-modern gem perched on a hilltop overlooking the Arroyo Seco. The actress, known for her role as Rebecca Pearson on This Is Us, and the frontman of folk-rock band Dawes purchased the 1950s residence for nearly $2.6 million and embarked on a full renovation. Now, their stylishly transformed home is back on the market for $6 million, listed by Teresa Fuller and Jamie Bridgers of Compass.
The couple fell in love with the property’s views, pool, and overall ambiance, as Moore shared with Architectural Digest in 2018. Though the Harold B. Zook-designed house had good bones, a 1990s renovation had obscured its original midcentury charm. Moore and her team aimed to recapture the home’s original spirit while modernizing it. They consulted Zook’s original drawings and collaborated with Bronstruction, architect Emily Farnham, interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel, and Terremoto landscapers to restore features like the stepped cornice lining the roof and the original blonde brick walls.
Situated in the Linda Vista neighborhood, above the Rose Bowl Stadium and Annandale Golf Club, the white stucco and brick-accented home offers 3,550 square feet of light-filled living space with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and stunning views of the San Gabriel Mountains and Valley. The interiors include brass-inlaid terrazzo floors, art walls, and designer lighting.
Highlights of the open-plan home include a grand living and dining area with a large stone fireplace and a striking copper hood. The skylit kitchen features open shelving, a marble waterfall-edge island with seating, high-end stainless appliances, a walk-in pantry, and a breakfast nook that opens to a patio and garden. A family room boasts a custom terrazzo-clad bench by the fireplace.
The private primary suite, accessed via a hallway with a library alcove, features a built-in green velvet headboard, floating bedside shelves, and a spa-like bath with dual white oak vanities, a deep soaking tub, and a glass-enclosed shower. Sliding glass doors open to the grounds, which include a pool with a Baja shelf and spa, a fire pit, and a pergola-shaded dining and kitchen area on just over 1.4 acres.
On her Instagram page, Moore described the sale as “bittersweet,” noting that the home has been the backdrop for significant moments in her life, including her engagement, marriage, and the arrival of her two children. “It’s SUCH a special space,” she added.
Best known for her role on This Is Us and her appearances in films like A Walk to Remember and 47 Meters Down, Moore is also a singer-songwriter with hits such as “Candy” and “I Wanna Be With You.” She will soon appear on the next season of HGTV’s Celebrity IOU, debuting in August with Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott.
