In the last Christmas before his death in 2020, country music legend Kenny Rogers celebrated the holiday at his French Country-style home in the Atlanta suburbs, surrounded by around 40 family and friends. They enjoyed a potluck supper, admired a 14-foot Christmas tree, and played games before heading to a nearby Waffle House, a family favorite, as shared by his widow, Wanda Rogers-Webb. After battling health issues, Rogers passed away in March 2020 at the age of 81.
Rogers had purchased the six-bedroom home in Sandy Springs for $1.705 million in 2019 to be closer to his medical team. Now, four years later, Rogers-Webb has remarried and is relocating, prompting the family to list the approximately 7,600-square-foot estate for $2.475 million, according to listing agent Thom McCorkle of Ansley Real Estate Christie’s International.
“This home, sadly, was our last home with Kenny,” said Rogers-Webb, who was married to him for over 20 years. “Making the decision to move was a little bittersweet for me and the boys.” Originally from Texas, Rogers moved to Georgia in the 1980s for a more relaxed lifestyle after his early career in Los Angeles. During their time in Sandy Springs, the couple renovated the castle-like home built in 2003, adding an elevator for Rogers and a front fountain surrounded by boxwood hedges. The kitchen features custom mosaics, a butler’s pantry, breakfast nook, and coffee bar. Rogers’s home office displayed numerous awards and memorabilia, while the lower-level entertainment area included a kitchenette, wine storage, home theater, ping-pong table, and poker tables. Known for his 1978 hit “The Gambler,” Rogers enjoyed playing poker casually.
The estate spans 0.6 acres and includes a pool. Rogers often rode his golf cart around the neighborhood to enjoy the scenery. “Kenny loved the outdoors,” Rogers-Webb recalled, noting his passion for tennis and design. Over the years, he renovated about 10 homes, often preferring high ceilings, earth tones, and large windows.
Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013, Rogers was also a co-founder of the chicken restaurant franchise “Kenny Rogers Roasters.” Luxury home sales in Sandy Springs rose 15.1% in the second quarter of 2023, with Atlanta’s highest home sale at $19.8 million just six miles from Rogers’s property.
