Judy Sheindlin is officially putting her New York City penthouse on the market. According to The New York Times, the reality TV star, best known as Judge Judy, has listed her elegant Manhattan pied-à-terre for $9.5 million. Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon of Compass hold the listing.

A formal dining room has floor-to-ceiling French doors.

A place specifically for lounging can be found on the wraparound deck.

Sheindlin and her husband Jerry, a former New York Supreme Court judge, purchased the duplex unit for $8.5 million in 2013, shortly after selling their residence at The Sherry-Netherland hotel. In an email to the Times, Sheindlin, who also owns homes in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Florida, and California, said, “We’ve enjoyed this jewel of an apartment. Time to simplify.”

A downstairs primary suite includes a seating area and ample closet space.

Located at 14 Sutton Place South, a 14-story pre-war co-op designed by Rosario Candela in the late 1920s, the penthouse spans the building’s top two floors. It features four bedrooms and six bathrooms within largely original yet modernized interiors, which include hardwood floors, high ceilings, classic moldings, and a curved wrought-iron and wood staircase. The apartment also boasts central air-conditioning, an integrated sound system, and an expansive wraparound terrace ideal for al fresco lounging and dining.

An eat-in kitchen is outfitted with a central island and stainless appliances.

Highlights of the penthouse include a semi-private elevator landing that opens into an upper-level entrance gallery with inlaid marble, a spacious living room with a wood-burning fireplace and large casement windows offering East River views, a formal dining room with floor-to-ceiling French doors, and an eat-in kitchen with green marble countertops, a wood-topped island, and high-end stainless appliances.

The cozy wood-paneled library is warmed by a fireplace.

Additionally, there is a wood-paneled library with a fireplace and built-in bookshelves, a converted wine-storage alcove that now serves as a powder room, and a downstairs primary suite with a seating area, ample closet space, built-in storage, and a spa-inspired bath with dual vanities and a shower. Three additional guest bedrooms include two with en-suite baths and one with access to a hallway bath.

The new owner will enjoy numerous amenities provided by a $10,130 monthly maintenance fee, including a 24/7 doorman, a resident manager, a common roof deck, a gym, a bike room, and a private storage space.

The living room features a fireplace and casement windows offering views of the East River.

A former Manhattan prosecutor and family court judge, the 81-year-old Sheindlin starred as the no-nonsense courtroom arbitrator on Judge Judy for 25 seasons, from 1996 to 2021, and now appears in Judy Justice on Amazon Freevee. Her husband Jerry also appeared on TV, presiding over The People’s Court for two seasons.

The primary bath comes complete with dual vanities and a glassy shower.

Nearby Manhattan properties for sale include a $16 million townhouse owned by Elvis director Baz Luhrmann and a five-story Lenox Hill residence listed for $16.4 million. For those not looking to buy, a Fifth Avenue apartment overlooking the Met is available for rent at $90,000 per month, featuring three landscaped terraces and three outdoor showers.

The deck also hosts an al fresco dining spot with city and water vistas.
