The Laurel Canyon compound was the longtime home of b-movie actor Beach Dickerson. It was later owned by Corbin Bernsen and Amanda Pays.

Originally built in 1936, this historic Laurel Canyon estate has welcomed many notable Hollywood figures over the years. Most famously, it was the long-time home of actor-producer Beach Dickerson and later, author and celebrity matchmaker Scotty Bowers. After Bowers passed away in 2019, houseflippers Corbin Bernsen and Amanda Pays acquired the property and undertook a major renovation. Interestingly, Beach had left the Kew Drive residence to Bernsen, his godson. Known as “The Crown Jewel,” the compound offers stunning city views and includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The property spans less than 6,000 square feet and features several buildings—a main house, an A-frame guest cottage, a pool house, and a bungalow below the pool, which is named “El Nido de Nestor” after its former occupant, Oscar-winning Spanish cinematographer Nestor Almendros.

Walls of glass provide sweeping city and ocean views.

Compass agent Wendy Moore describes the property’s appeal: “What sets this property apart is its unassuming charm; it’s been dubbed the Crown Jewel of Laurel Canyon, yet it maintains the laid-back, funky vibe that draws buyers to this neighborhood. Truly, it’s a one-of-a-kind gem.” Inside, the main house features a quirky design with glass walls in the living/dining room and black-and-white checkerboard floors in the updated kitchen. Outside, the brick and concrete terraces surround the swimming pool and spa. The pool house appears to double as a gym, while the one-bedroom “El Nido de Nestor” bungalow is currently configured as an office or studio. The rustic A-frame guest cottage includes a kitchenette and a lofted bedroom.

The property, which last sold for $2 million in 2020, is now listed for nearly $2.6 million.
