Bernard “Bernie” Marcus is putting his Atlanta condo on the market after more than a decade of ownership. The Home Depot co-founder is asking $5 million for the unit located in the Park Avenue high-rise in Buckhead, near Phipps Plaza and Lenox Square. The listing is handled by Nicholas Brown of Compass Georgia.
Marcus and his wife Billi purchased the 37th-floor condo in December 2010 for $3 million. They previously owned a smaller unit in the same building, which they bought in 2010 for $2 million and sold four years later for just under $1.4 million.
This spacious condo features three bedrooms and five bathrooms across approximately 5,700 square feet, offering stunning views from Downtown Atlanta to Stone Mountain and Kennesaw Mountain. Highlights include a grand salon designed for entertaining, complete with a full bar and access to a wraparound terrace through sliding glass walls. The circular formal dining room features a domed ceiling with a custom hand-blown glass chandelier, while the gourmet kitchen includes top-tier appliances and a climate-controlled wine room.
The primary suite boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, a cozy seating area, a luxurious bath, and plenty of closet space. Additional features include an executive office, a wood-paneled library with a private balcony, a guest bedroom, and a self-contained suite for live-in staff with its own kitchen and living area.
The gated building offers extensive amenities for a $4,071 monthly HOA fee, including valet service, a swimming pool, fitness center, landscaped gardens, a clubroom, wine storage, guest suites, and two reserved parking spaces.
After graduating from Rutgers University in 1954, Marcus began his career as a pharmacist before founding The Home Depot in 1978 with Arthur Blank. Since retiring in 2002, he has focused on philanthropy, donating over $2 billion through The Marcus Foundation and planning to leave 90% of his estimated $11 billion fortune to the foundation upon his death.
“Atlanta holds a special place in my heart,” Marcus stated. “This city will always be part of me, and my commitment to its growth and success will continue.” He also owns a home on Lake Toxaway in North Carolina.
