Kevin Spacey, the former two-time Academy Award winner, has disclosed that he is now homeless, having lost his sprawling Baltimore property to foreclosure while struggling with “astronomical” legal fees incurred defending himself against numerous sexual assault allegations.
The 66-year-old actor, once one of the most in-demand stars in Hollywood with major roles in blockbusters like Se7en and the massively popular political series House of Cards, became a persona non grata after multiple claims of sexual assault and misconduct surfaced in 2017. This professional stigma has persisted, even after he was acquitted of all sexual assault charges by a London court in 2023.

Financial Ruin and Foreclosure
Spacey’s six-year legal battle to clear his name, combined with Hollywood’s refusal to employ him, left him in dire financial straits. In July 2024, he defaulted on his $20,000-a-month mortgage and lost his palatial Baltimore mansion to foreclosure.
- The property, purchased by Spacey for $5.65 million in 2017, was ultimately acquired by real estate mogul Sam Asgari at a foreclosure auction for $3.2 million.
- The actor initially fought the foreclosure but was eventually forced to vacate the residence, which he confirmed to The Telegraph was lost for one simple reason: “Because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.“
Living Out of Hotels and Airbnbs
Spacey revealed that he is currently “literally have no home,” and is traveling for work, living between Airbnb rentals and hotels.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” he told the outlet. He added that while filing for bankruptcy had been “discussed,” he managed to avoid it.

The majority of his possessions are currently in storage as he pursues any and every paying work opportunity—a path that has led him to unexpected ventures, including a recent musical performance gig in a Cyprus nightclub, where tickets were priced up to $1,400.
“In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was,” Spacey reflected. “I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
The Baltimore Mansion and Legal Wrangling
Spacey’s admission comes just over a year after he was forced to move out of the 9,000-square-foot dwelling. The actor’s ownership was initially denied by his representatives in 2017, but it was later confirmed when the property went to auction.

The sale led to a public dispute with the new owner, Sam Asgari, over Spacey’s refusal to leave the home, which included accusations of “bullying” from the actor. The quarrel seemingly concluded in February of this year when the property was listed for sale at $5.99 million, suggesting Spacey had finally vacated.

The impressive five-story abode, a combination of two townhouses located in the exclusive Pier Homes at the Harborview community, features:
- Size: Six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and three half-baths.
- Amenities: Home theater, sauna, elevator, billiard room, chef’s kitchen, and a four-car garage.
- Views: Multiple decks, including a 76-foot roof deck with a spa, offer residents panoramic views across the harbor.

Despite being cleared of all charges in his 2023 trial, Spacey admitted in a 2024 interview with Piers Morgan that he “still owed a lot of legal bills that he has been unable to pay,” confirming his struggle to “get back on the horse” in Hollywood. He is now using his difficult situation to explore new career paths, including his long-held passion for music.
