Two decades following Estée Lauder’s passing, her beloved “favorite vacation home” in Cannes, where she crafted some of her renowned fragrances, is now available for purchase. Listed with Hamptons for £6.7 million (approximately $8.7 million), the elegant villa sits on Avenue du Roi Albert in La Californie, an exclusive residential area of Cannes. Estée and her late husband, Joseph, acquired the palatial property together in 1961, and she retained ownership until her death in 2004 at age 97. Subsequently, the property underwent a meticulous renovation by the new owners, who discovered memorabilia like an old letter from Neiman Marcus founder Stanley Marcus among Estée’s belongings.
Built in 1926, the villa spans 4,305 square feet with six bedrooms and six bathrooms. It features expansive living spaces, a luxurious primary suite, a kitchen adorned with marble and wood, and a dedicated home office. Each level offers sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. Outside, the landscaped grounds include formal gardens, a covered patio, and a heated swimming pool.
Located in the leafy La Californie neighborhood on “billionaire’s hill,” the villa is minutes from Cannes’ historic center, beaches, and luxury boutiques. Notable former residents of the area include Pablo Picasso and a current roster of tech leaders, private equity executives, and pharmaceutical billionaires.
Estée Lauder, who co-founded her namesake company in 1946 with Joseph, built an empire known for skincare, makeup, and fragrances. The New York-based corporation oversees prestigious brands such as La Mer, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Clinique. In recent years, Estée Lauder made headlines with acquisitions of Tom Ford and Deciem Beauty, which owns The Ordinary.
