Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones has recently sold his luxury mansion in Canton, Georgia, for $11 million.
An Olympic-sized pool is next to a large cabana.
The Hall of Famer, who spent 19 years with the Braves, had owned the 37-acre estate since 2018, when he purchased it for $9.25 million through a trust, according to PropertyShark records.
Hidden away among trees between the hustle and bustle of Atlanta and the rural foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the house was designed “to allow the considerable beauty of its location to shine,” according to the listing by Katie McGuirk of Ansley Real Estate, the exclusive Atlanta-area affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate.
The house was designed “to allow the considerable beauty of its location to shine.”
The picturesque grounds are home to numerous amenities, including a boating shed, a heated Olympic-sized pool with a large cabana, an outdoor dining area, a nine-car garage, a four-stall stable, and a series of dirt bike tracks that wind throughout the estate.
“The entire family enjoyed the grounds of the property,” Ms. McGuirk told Mansion Global. “Chipper’s mother is an award-winning equestrian, and their boys loved using the dirt bike tracks and fishing in the lake.”
The buyers “also have an affinity for horses,” Ms. McGuirk said. “So the stables were a key selling point, along with the opportunity for the family to all be in one place.”
A deed for the transaction, and therefore the buyer’s identity, is not yet available in public records.
There are a number of outdoor spaces.
From the street, stately gates open to reveal the property’s sweeping driveway, which passes by a guest house and the large private lake before arriving at the main house.
A double-height domed entrance hall leads into the 23,000-square-foot mansion, which boasts an open layout and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Including terraces and fireplaces.
Natural stone, hardwood flooring, custom cabinetry, and designer lighting adorn the residence, which is also equipped with a home theater and gaming room, a sauna, a children’s playroom, a wine cellar, and a primary suite featuring a private covered patio and a floor-to-ceiling movie screen projector.
The family is downsizing, as noted by Ms. McGuirk.
Mr. Jones, 51, could not be reached for comment. He’s an eight-time All-Star, a two-time Silver Slugger winner, and a World Series champion. He retired from playing in 2012 and rejoined the Braves as an assistant hitting consultant in 2021.
The sale was initially reported by TMZ.
